SmartView Motorised Curtains: Effortless Automation for Everyday Living

your curtains gently opening in the morning, letting the natural light in before you’ve even left your bed. Then, as evening rolls around, they close again, ready to create a cosy atmosphere for the night. With SmartView motorised curtains, everyday moments like these can happen automatically. SmartView brings convenient motorisation to selected curtain styles, giving you the flexibility to open and close your curtains from the SmartView app, an optional remote control, or with automated timers and scenes designed around your routine.

What are SmartView motorised curtains?

SmartView motorised curtains use a rechargeable motor connected to a specially designed motorised curtain track. Instead of manually drawing your curtains, the motor moves them smoothly along the track for you.

You can control your curtains through the SmartView app on your smartphone or device or add an optional remote control.

For even greater convenience, you can create timers and scenes within the app so your curtains automatically open and close at times that suit your lifestyle. Within the SmartView app you can also set up Siri voice-controlled shortcuts on iOS devices.

How do automated curtain timers work?

One of the biggest benefits of SmartView motorisation is being able to automate your curtains around your everyday routine.

Using the SmartView app, you can create timers that tell your curtains when to open or close. You might choose to:

  • Open your bedroom curtains in the morning
  • Close living room curtains in the evening
  • Set different opening and closing times to suit your routines (hello weekend sleep-in!)
  • Coordinate multiple SmartView window furnishings as part of the same scene

Once your timers have been set, they’ll continue to run automatically, so there’s no need to open the app every day.

It’s an effortless way to make your window furnishings work around you.

Can I control SmartView curtains from my phone?

Yes. Once set up, SmartView motorised curtains can be operated manually through the SmartView app whenever you want to open or close them yourself.

Getting started is simple, with a QR code used to pair your SmartView curtains with the app.

You’ll need an internet connection to initially download the SmartView app. SmartView products then use Bluetooth connectivity for setup and control, while your programmed timers continue to operate independently once they’ve been configured.

Can I use a remote control instead?

Prefer the simplicity of a remote? There’s an optional SmartView remote control available too.

The remote is configured through the SmartView app, so you’ll still need to download the app and have access to a compatible smart device during setup, even if you plan to use the remote as your main way of controlling your curtains.

Once everything is configured, you can enjoy convenient curtain control without needing to reach for your phone each time.

Which curtains are available with SmartView motorisation?

SmartView motorisation is available on selected curtains, including pairs of S-fold curtains and double pinch pleat curtains.

It isn’t currently available with:

  • Single-panel s-fold curtains (this can be motorised with a different motor, but not automated with the SmartView app)
  • Pencil pleat curtains
  • Eyelet curtains

SmartView motorisation requires a purpose-designed track, so it’s important to select the SmartView motorisation option when ordering your new curtains.

Can SmartView be added to existing curtains?

SmartView motorisation cannot be retrofitted to an existing standard S-fold or pinch pleat curtain track.

The SmartView motorised track is different from the standard tracks supplied with non-motorised curtains. If you already have curtains and would like SmartView functionality, simply adding a motor to your existing track isn’t possible.

Where is the SmartView curtain motor located?

The SmartView motor connects directly to the curtain track and sits neatly behind the first fold at the leading edge of the curtain, helping it blend into the overall design.

Because the motor itself is relatively substantial, its visibility will depend on your chose fabric.

With light-filtering and blackout fabrics, the curtain conceals the motor, so it stays discreetly tucked away. With sheer fabrics, however, you may be able to see the outline of the motor through the fabric.

Do motorised curtains need to be hardwired?

No. SmartView motorised curtains are rechargeable, so there’s no hardwiring required.

That means you can enjoy the convenience of motorisation without needing to arrange an electrician or run power directly to the curtain track.

The rechargeable battery is designed to last for months between charges, with charging generally required approximately every 6-9 months, depending on usage.

When it’s time to recharge, the battery pack can be easily removed from the motor with a simple twist-and-pull action. You can then plug it in to charge before reconnecting to the motor.

Can SmartView curtains work with SmartView blinds?

Yes. One of the advantages of choosing SmartView is that your compatible window furnishings can work together within the same system.

The SmartView app is compatible with the wider SmartView range, including selected:

That means you can manage compatible blinds and curtains from the same app and create routines that bring different window furnishings together.

For example, you could create an evening scene that closes your SmartView roller blinds and curtains together, helping your home transition from daytime to night with minimal effort.

Other motorised products within our range operate as standalone systems and aren’t connected to the SmartView app (unless specified as SmartView), so check the individual product specifications when choosing motorisation for different windows around your home.

Are SmartView motorised curtains worth it?

SmartView motorised curtains are an ideal choice if you want your window furnishings to feel like a natural part of your daily routine.

Rather than thinking about opening and closing every curtain individually, you can set your preferred schedule and let your curtains take care of the rest. And whenever you want to take control yourself, the app or optional remote puts it right at your fingertips.

There’s no hardwiring, charging is only needed every few months, and SmartView can bring compatible blinds and curtains together in one easy-to-use system.

Whether it’s curtains opening to welcome the morning light or closing as you settle in for the evening, SmartView makes those little everyday transitions feel effortless.
