Today’s not just any day, it’s International Cat Day (August 8th), and we’re paws-itively thrilled to celebrate with some of the most stylish (and mischievous) home design assistants out there; our cats.
At Tuiss Blinds Online, we’ve been lucky enough to receive an adorable flurry of photos from our team, creators, and customers all featuring their feline companions “helping” (read: supervising, snoozing, or causing a little chaos) as they DIY their way to beautiful window furnishings.
Because let’s face it, no one has stronger opinions on curtains than a cat.

ToggleCurtain Call: The Cat-Approved Fabric Trends
Our four-legged friends have spoken. From batting at blackout curtains in a playful game of hide-and-seek to soaking up the sun behind a dreamy sheer, cats love the tactile magic of fabric as much as we do.
Whether they’re:
- Testing the durability of our blackout fabrics by scaling them at 6am for breakfast demands,
- Inspecting fabric samples (or napping on them),
- Or simply posing perfectly in the soft folds of freshly installed curtains…
It’s clear, cats know style when they see it.

“Helping” with the Installation
DIY can save you a lot of money, which is great news, because have you seen how expensive cat towers are these days?
Installing your own roller blinds, venetians, or roman blinds is simpler than you think. Although, full disclosure, having a cat “supervising” might add a few extra minutes to the job. They insist on sitting inside the box, chasing the screws around, and walking across the instructions at just the right moment.
Top tip: treat installation day like a game of cat-and-mouse. You’ll get it done, and your furry friend will have the time of their life.

Cat-Tested, Sunbeam-Approved
Let’s not forget one of the biggest perks of upgrading your window furnishings – more control over natural light. And if there’s one thing cats love, it’s a good sunbeam to stretch out in.
- Sheer curtains create the ultimate cat lounge, letting in soft, filtered light for that perfect afternoon nap.
- Blockout blinds are ideal for cats who take their beauty sleep seriously.
- Venetian blinds let you tilt the light just right, for cats who enjoy a view and a nap.
DIY = More Treats (and Toys)
By choosing to DIY your window furnishings, you’re not just expressing your style and saving money, you’re also freeing up funds to truly spoil your fur baby. That’s what we call a win-win.
So go ahead. Add the extra treats to the cart. Grab the deluxe scratching post. Or that novelty bed shaped like a banana (even though they’ll most likely prefer the box). You deserve it. And so does your cat.

Tips for Cat-Related Curtain and Blind Care
Living with cats means embracing a little extra fluff, a few unexpected snags, and the occasional dramatic curtain climb. But don’t worry, with a few simple tricks, your window furnishings can stay looking fresh, tidy, and cat-resilient.
Here are our top tips for cat-friendly curtain and blind care:
The Latex Glove Trick (for Fur Removal)
Fabric looking more fur than fibre? Pop on a latex or rubber glove and gently run your hand over your curtains or fabric blinds. The static combined with the gripping texture of the glove helps lift pet hair with ease no special tools needed.
Fixing Pulls in Sheers
Cats love sheer curtains (so good for hide-and-seek), but tiny claws can cause pulls. To fix minor snags, gently stretch the surrounding fabric weave with your fingers in all directions, little by little. This often redistributes the tension and helps the pull disappear into the fabric.
Spot-Clean Paw Prints (and Noses!)
If your cat’s favourite lookout spot happens to be behind the blinds, you might notice the occasional paw print or nose smudge. A lightly dampened microfiber cloth with a touch of mild soap is great for spot-cleaning most fabrics and blind slats.
Choose Durable, Pet-Friendly Fabrics
If you’re still in the planning stage, opt for tightly woven or textured fabrics that are less prone to snagging. Blackout roller blinds, faux wood venetians, and textured polyesters can handle more than their fair share of feline antics.
